Netball Clinic Weekend
Harvest Christian School had their first ever netball camp at the Dinokeng Conservation Area in Pretoria North, from the 1-3 March.
Camp Discovery hosted the Tuks netball, Jaguar players and a few well known coaches like Jenny van Dyk the Jaguars and Northern Gauteng netball. In total 19 schools from around Gauteng attended the 2019 netball camp.
Harvest had 5 age groups that attended the camp, ranging from u/9 to u/13 girls and their coaches. The camp was very well organised and had a balanced programme that included fun socials and training that required both mental and physical stamina.
The coaches, with their teams learnt diverse warm up exercises, ranging from front kicks to leg shuffles, attack and defensive strategies like shadowing, man-on-man, square pass play, goal sweeping and base play, all in preparation for matches. Some team building exercises that involved concentration games were also incorporated into the day. The netball players displayed significant growth in their game play and team cohesion.
This camp was both very challenging, yet enjoyable for the netball teams and their coaches. We will definitely be considering this opportunity again in the near future.
